January 2016

Happy New Year!  Here is some of our January fun...
This cute little "Nessie Ladle" was a gift from my sister-in-law :)

Solid proof that it DOES snow in western Washington!  This is all we've seen so far and it was gone by morning - but, it snowed!  I honestly don't miss it - haha.  I'm liking this new winter world of warmish weather, rain and lots of green everywhere (even if most of the green is moss - haha!)

This is how the twins got ready for family prayer one night...nice

And Jacie left this adorable note for us...I love when they are in the blob stage of drawing people!

The twins and I made it through the alphabet twice (upper and lower case) - they're showing off their alphabet crafts.  And Carly entered one of her awesome drawings in a contest for the cover of the yearbook and SHE WON!  She scored a free yearbook and her drawing on everyone's yearbooks!

One drawback of living in a warmish, moist place is lots of MOLD!  Carly may or may not have screamed a bit when she pulled a box out in her room and discovered this in the corner...it was much hairier in person!  ;)    And Trevor's shoes gave him a blister while we were doing our biweekly grocery shopping so he got to be buried by all our food!  I like his little bare feet peeking out!

Carly has been having fun learning how to cook and bake.  I caught some mean sickness recently and she made dinner, served it and did the dishes all by herself - so proud!  She also tried her hand at snickerdoodles one day  - she got creative and we had to laugh when her creations got so fat!

Here's a perk of living in a wet winter area - lots of beautiful rainbows!
Matt got a shot of this one at work.

The twins made up this...interesting...game one day - they call it "bum fights" :)

One day was warm enough to venture out to the park!
And I don't even know what to say about the picture of Trevor all folded over on himself -
he just told me to take a picture!  Flexible little dude.

We had a cool hailstorm come through - it was pretty exciting.

Much to her Aunt Taletha's delight - Alissa has started playing basketball!  She is playing church ball and they've got a big group of girls learning the game and very patient and kind opponents and referees that are helping them learn during the games!

Matt found a selfie stick on clearance so we just had to try it out!  Works great!

We were "fortunate" to get to do three, yes, THREE science projects this year for school!  They even had the 1st graders do one - that surprised me the most.  Luckily, we'd done some fun science experiments to entertain the kids last summer so two of them made it to our final choice for a project.  Matt took over Cameron's so it's a pretty advanced one for a 1st grader but he had fun learning it.

I had to get his project down to the most basic idea so we ended up with this conversation:
Me:  Cameron, what did you do your project on?
Cam:  If power can move through water.
Me:  What did you discover?
Cam:  Yes it can.  And if you add salt to the water it makes it move faster.

Good times!
